Doctors are given stature equal to god. They save lives all over the world and work tirelessly to save people. They don’t see the wealth or social standing of a patient. They believe in preserving mankind. Medicine is said to be one of the most reputed professions. India is one of the largest producers of the healthcare workforce.
Although, becoming a doctor is not an easy task! You have to burn the midnight oil to get a seat in medical college. For a medical seat, students are required to give the NEET exam. NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate). It is a medical exam for students who wish to pursue undergraduate medical courses in government and private institutes in India and abroad. It is a pen-paper test given by the students who have passed their 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as their core subjects from a recognized board. It is a three-hour duration exam in 11 languages which changes the journey of a candidate. In the previous year 2021, the exam cut-off was higher than the expected percentage, for the general category it was 138-720 and for OBC/SC/ST it was 108-137.
To prepare for the NEET-UG, many students prefer to attend various coaching and tuition classes to give themselves a higher competitive edge. They undergo rigorous coaching for 2 years to perform well on the test as it requires a high IQ and well understanding of concepts. NEET being the only medical exam, prevents private universities from performing any malpractices. Thus, eradicating any chance of discrimination. It also saves them time and money.
